Baltimore, MD - June, 5 2009 - The Cheaters are set to release Midnight Run, the
follow up effort to their debut, The Cheaters L.P. A lot has changed in the
three years since they released their eponymous album, which has sold several
thousand copies through independent distribution, as a result of the band’s
relentless touring. They've also grown from bar-band status to full-blown arena
shakers, opening for major-leaguers like ZZ Top, The Pretenders, Ace Frehley,
REO Speedwagon, The Stray Cats, Molly Hatchett, and Shooter Jennings.
In
December 2008, The Cheaters entered Waterford Digital Studios with Frank
Marchand, III, who is repeating his role as engineer and producer for the band’s
sophomore effort. Midnight Run delivers on the Cheaters’ goal of creating an
honest rock ‘n roll record that captures the red-hot energy of their legendary
live show, while tastily hinting at the band’s Southern Influences. The band
steps up the musicality considerably on the new record, incorporating dueling
lead guitar riffs, key changes, guest musicians and back-up singers. Midnight
Run is everything The Cheaters set out to achieve; a work that will both
resonate with their vast loyal fan base and attract new listeners to their
sound.
The Cheaters’ debut album garnered praise on both sides of the
Atlantic; most notably for its "whiskey-fueled, home-fried rock 'n roll" sound.
But the band’s trademark live shows are a non-stop showcase of the band's energy
and showmanship that immediately draws the crowd in, and leaves them hungry for
more long after the last twang of the guitar.
While touring non-stop
throughout the U.S.; The Cheaters have also gained international experience. In
2008, they were the only U.S. band invited to play at the Saltsound Festival in
Lithuania . This year, the band embarked on a two-week tour of Japan and Guam
and drew praise from British publication, Classic Rock Magazine, which described
the band as "crowd-pleasing party starters who mix up a heady cocktail of 70's
Southern rock and rip-this-joint rock 'n roll,” and included the band on its
AC/DC-themed compilation CD.
The Cheaters will be touring in support of
Midnight Run, playing shows throughout Maryland, New Jersey and New York. Their
CD Release party (an all-ages show) will be held on June 5th at the 8x10 Club in
Baltimore. Tickets are available at The 8X10’s box office and website, as well
as at www.thecheaters.net
